Long-term solutions to poverty depend on people being able to increase their income, improve their crops and create new sources of food. Yet many people are trapped in a cycle of poverty because they lack even the simplest resources they need to get a foothold on the ladder out of poverty.
Something as simple as eight apple trees (£7) can make all the difference. Even when rain is scarce, these trees will flourish providing both nutritious food and an income when sold on.
Or another new gift this year is our cow (£44), which can be invaluable by providing milk and manure to keep families healthy or in times of emergency can be sold on to provide an income for families to buy more food.
